Discover the history of Alain Ducasse and Ducasse sur Seine: the chef, his cuisine, the restaurant boat
Born in 1956 on a farm in the Landes region of France, Alain Ducasse discovered his taste for produce at a very early age. At the age of 16, the young chef opened the doors of a restaurant in the South-West of France and then went on to train alongside great chefs such as Michel Guérard, Gaston Lenôtre, Alain Chapel and Roger Vergé, with whom he discovered Provençal cuisine. His creativity and know-how will allow him to become in 2005 the first chef with three Michelin stars. Both cook and creator, Alain Ducasse is a craftsman of good living and good eating. Beyond the conception of the dishes in his restaurants, he is involved in the scenography and table arts, while leaving the chefs the freedom to express their own interpretation of gastronomy. Each dish has its own story and, before the chef, it is the product that takes center stage. Rooted in the land, Alain Ducasse's cuisine vibrates to the rhythm of its time, combining tradition and modernity, high standards and respect for the product.
Gastronomic addresses, French brasseries or world cuisine, Alain Ducasse has imagined 34 restaurants in the world, each with its own editorial line, nourished by the personality and emotions of the chef he appoints to run the place.

Inaugurated in 2018, thanks to the collaboration between Ducasse Paris, CitySurfing and Caisse des Dépôts, Ducasse sur Seine is the first 100% electric boat to navigate on the Seine. A true technological performance, it took 18 months of work and nearly 200 jobs to design and build the boat and its pontoon. The elegant curves of the boat were designed by naval architect Gérard Ronzatti, while the interior design, which combines warmth and transparency, was entrusted to the fashion-design duo Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman. Aboard the restaurant boat, guests have the sensation of gliding down the Seine thanks to a perfectly clean and silent electric propulsion system, while tasting the gastronomic cuisine of chef Alain Ducasse.
